Hard water results in a number of problems. A water softener is used to correct water hardness. The proper size and type of softener for a given application depends upon the following:

  1. Compensated hardness
  2. Iron content
  3. Water used per day (sprinklers excluded)
  4. Flow rate required
A water softener should always be installed when the compensated hardness exceeds 3 gpg.

How does it work?

  • A water softener can remove up to 10 ppm of ferrous iron, depending upon size and type of softener.

  • Address metalic taste of water, iron 'reddish' stains, ...
